![]() ![]() Delete duplicates upon detection or mark them with a keyword to make them easily found using iPhoto features like search or smart folders. Only uses standard Apple features and API's. No hacking nor tampering with iPhoto system files.Īvailable in English, German, French, Italian and Swedish. The test that I ran was to scan through some photographs from a trip I took several years ago. I knew that I had saved it in document folders and in my iPhoto library. So, I added both locations to PhotoSweeper to scan. The first thing I wanted to know was how well PhotoSweeper handled evaluating photos from different locations. I’m happy to report that it worked beautifully. Once the photos you want analyzed are loaded into the PhotoSweeper, the next step is to Compare the photographs. PhotoSweeper uses two methods for reviewing results and marking photos – Face-to Face and Group List. With Face-to-Face photos, you are given two large photos with details about how close of a match they are and where they are located on your computer. The Group List presents you with all the matched photos – all groups together. From here, it is easy to look through the files that have been chosen by PhotoSweeper as ‘duplicates’ or ‘similar’. Once you have completed the comparison process and are presented with the duplicates, the next step is to select the files that should be deleted. With my personal test, I had purposely selected what I knew to be duplicate files. I was, however, surprised to find that I had multiple multiples. The next step is to mark the photos graphs you want to delete. PhotoSweeper gives you the option to automatically mark photos. What this will do is mark all duplicate photos within a group except one. ![]() At first, I was apprehensive of allowing the app to complete this task rather than doing it personally. But, I ended up using the mark automatically option because of the amount of photos in the import. It’s important to note that even though the app automatically marks the photos, the deletion process won’t be completed until you tell PhotoSweeper to delete them. You still have the option to view the files and unselect the photos that have been automatically selected if you so wish. Once the files you want to get rid of are marked, review them in the browser and then move them to the trash when you are satisfied that you are not deleting any keepsakes. I sifted through my duplicates and after I deleted them, I had freed up more than 650MB of space. ![]()
